Review: descriptions and location
Describe a room and the people in it with the right sentence patterns.
What you’ll work on
- Connect nouns, articles, and descriptions.
- Distinguish identity, state, existence, and location.
- Use agreement in short sentences.
A short conversation
Google voice when available; device voice as a fallback. Read along, then try each line aloud.
Esta es la habitación.
This is the room.
Es grande. ¿Hay una mesa?
It is large. Is there a table?
Sí, la mesa está al lado de la puerta.
Yes, the table is next to the door.
Gracias. Estoy cansada, pero estoy bien.
Thank you. I am tired, but I am well.
Choose between ser, estar, and hay
Ask yourself whether the sentence identifies something, gives a state, introduces an item, or locates a known item. That question is more useful than deciding whether something lasts a long time. A room can be large and still use es; a table’s location uses está.
Check article, noun, and adjective agreement
Say una mesa nueva and unas mesas nuevas aloud. Notice that three parts change together. Then try un libro grande and unos libros grandes: grande does not change for gender, but it does change for number.
Describe a room
Imagine a room and introduce two items with hay. Tell your listener where one item is. Finally, describe how the visitor feels. This short sequence connects the three lessons and gives you a practical description rather than isolated grammar forms.
